Collection includes: Typescript correspondence between the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office, Alfred Staehli and the Oregon Department of Transportation, 1979, regarding the impending demolition of City Stable No.2 at 1155 SE Powell Blvd. in Portland, Oregon and its possible historical significance; Plans for City Stable No. 2, 1909 and 1947. City Stable No. 2 was originally constructed in 1909-1910 to house horses for the Portland Fire Department.

The Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) commenced in 1933 as a federal jobs program to document old buildings. It became a permanent program in 1934, administered by the National Parks Service. A parallel program, the Historic American Engineering Record (HAER), came into being in 1969, to document engineering and industrial sites.
