Margaret Saunders Ott, pianist, lecturer, and teacher, was born on July 18, 1920 in Fairfield, Washington. She married James Franklin Ott (a farm implement dealer in Fairfield, and a distinguished member of the Whitworth College Board of Trustees). Whitworth College was founded officially on February 19, 1890. During the years 1987 and 1988 plans were made to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Of course, this celebration, all during the 1989 year, was an opportune time for a fund drive. (Timothy R.
