The College of Nursing was established in 1948 with Hazelle B. Macquin as the first dean. She was succeeded by Mildred D. Quinn in 1955, who was in turn succeeded by Madeleine M. Leininger in 1974. Annette Ezell was named acting dean in 1980. Bonnie C. Clayton was associated with the School of Nursing from 1964 until her retirement as an associate professor in 1987. During 1973-1974, Bonnie C.
