Records of the Ontario, Oregon, branch of a San Francisco-based company that owned large tracts of land in northeastern Oregon beginning in 1876. Includes correspondence, legal documents, reports, statistics, and financial records concerning lands in Deschutes, Grant, Malheur, Moro, Sherman, Wasco, and Wheeler Counties. Includes information on banking, land ownership, farming, ranching, timber sales, and livestock raising. Most of the documents were sent to or from the Ontario agents, including Thomas W. Clagett, P. Hetherton, and Charles P. Flegel.

The Eastern Oregon Land Comany, headquartered in San Francisco, owned and operated large farms and ranches in eastern Oregon. To finance the building of wagon roads, the U.S. Government (as with the railways) granted to builders parcels of land on either side of the proposed route.
