Dennis K. Helm papers 1968-1993

These papers of Dennis K. Helm, a University of Kansas graduate and artist best known for his landscapes and portraits, contain letters that he received from many other Kansas artists, including Elizabeth Layton and his mentor, Robert Sudlow. Included are a collection of Helm's outgoing letters concerning other Kansas artists, manuscripts of his articles and essays regarding artists Robert Sudlow and Albert Bloch, and a posthumous sampler of Helm's writings, compiled in 1993 by Don Helm.

Kansas artist Dennis Kent Helm, best known for his landscapes and portraits, was born July 24, 1946 at Stafford, Kansas to Loyd Walter and Wilma Alice (Jones) Helm. He attended public schools in Reno County, Kansas, studied art at Hutchinson Community College, and in 1972 received a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Kansas at Lawrence.
