Page family papers 1828-1948 1876-1943

The papers contain correspondence, family papers, diaries, photographs, and other materials documenting the personal lives and professional careers of Alfred Rider Page, Elizabeth Merwin Roe Page, and their two daughters, Elizabeth Merwin Page Harris and Marjorie Page Schauffler. The Page family papers document Elizabeth Page's work as field secretary for the Women's Board of Domestic Missions of the Reformed Church in America and has correspondence on such subjects as relations between parents and children, courtship, and aging. The papers also contain material on the life and career of elder daughter Elizabeth, who was a teacher, Y.M.C.A. volunteer in World War I, employee of the International Grenfell Association, and author.

Alfred Rider Page (1859-1931): lawyer, served in the New York State legislature, 1905-1908, and was justice of the New York Supreme Court, 1909-1923. Alfred Rider Page, the son of Charles and Angeline Rider Page, was born in Carlinville, Illinois on October 7, 1859. Elizabeth Merwin Page Harris, author, graduated from Vassar College (1912) and received an M.A. from Columbia University (1914). She was a teacher (1914-1916), Y.M.C.A. worker during World War I, and an International Grenfell Association volunteer (1921-1925) and secretary (1927-1931).
