Olga Munk Haring was born in Ordea, Romania on August 25, 1917. She earned a B.A. (1932) at the Gymnasium of Budapest, an M.D. from the University of Vienna (1938) and another M.D. from the University of Leon in Nicaragua (1939). In 1949 she obtained an Assistance Etrangere in Cardiology from the Sorbonne. The Northwestern University Medical School began as the medical department of Lind University (later Lake Forest University) in 1859, located at Randolph and Market Streets in Chicago.
