The William B. Lloyd Papers document Lloyd's political, philanthropic, and academic interests and activities. The collection consists of correspondence, notes, reports, unpublished manuscripts, broadsides, and newsclippings. The Lloyd papers contain a significant quantity of information on political activities undertaken through the American Friends Service Committee; administration of the Sophia Haag Trust Fund; Lloyd's advocacy of mediation to resolve disputes in Asia, between the United States and Cuba, and in South Africa; the movement to ban nuclear weapons; and Lloyd's promotion of radio exchange programs to reduce international tensions and promote peace.

He worked as a reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer from 1929 to 1931 and became involved in the consumer cooperative movement in Chicago and Racine, Wisconsin.
