Malwin Warschauer was born in 1871 in Kanth, Lower Silesia, (today Kąty Wrocławskie, Poland), to the family of a timber merchant. He studied at the Hochschule für die Wissenschaft des Judentums in Berlin, which he later headed, and then served as a rabbi from circa 1900-1945. Biographical notes from his son indicate that he worked primarily in the Neue Synagoge in Berlin during the period 1900-1939, and thereafter was active in England. 20th century German-Polish-Jewish Rabbi, scholar, and a leader of Progressive Judaism. On 27 Jan. 1943, he was deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp. He became the "honorary head" of the Council of Elders (Judenrat) in Theresienstadt.
