He was an author and editor until his emigration to Great Britain in 1939, and continued his literary work there, including his biography of Bernays, Jacob Bernays: Ein Beitrag zur Emanzipationsgeschichte der Juden und zur Geschichte des deutschen Geistes im neunzehnten Jahrhundert.
