Edmund Jerusalem was born in 1879 in Nikolsburg, Moravia. In 1885 the family moved to Vienna, where the father, Wilhelm Jerusalem, lectured at the university. Edmund studied history, geography and German literature and from 1910 on taught at the Neue Wiener Handelsakademie. In 1939, he and his wife emigrated to Israel.
