Eduard Gans (1798-1839) was a jurist and professor of law in Berlin. Together with Leopold Zunz he founded the Society for Jewish Culture and Science in 1819. He was a disciple of Hegel and converted to Christianity in 1825. Edward Gans (1887-1991) was a banker in Germany. After he immigrated to the US he became a dealer of ancient coins and fine arts of various kinds.
