This collectioncontains papers of several members of the Goldschmidt family of Bremen andKirchweyhe, including Simon Samuel Goldschmidt, his son Sally, grandson Richard andgreat-grandson Heinz. Papers include both business, legal and real estate records aswell as more personal items, such as marriage certificates, documents on wills andinheritances, a few photographs and some letters. Identification papers and variouscertificates, such as those relating to education, health, military service andprofessional activities will also be found here.

Simon Samuel Goldschmidt settled in Kirchweyhe, in northern Germany. He and his wife Rosette had many children, one of them Sally Goldschmidt, born in 1836 in Kirchweyhe. Sally went on to became a businessman and married Emma Strauss of Leese, Germany. They had three children: Martha, Richard and Max. Sally Goldschmidt died in 1903, his wife Emma in 1930.
