This collection contains material gathered by Henry Landon Miles regarding the life of his great-grandfather, John Horne Miles. John Horne Miles (21 May 1854 - 10 August 1925) was born in London, England. He joined the merchant marines, and while in Australia, was baptized. He came to Utah, worked on the St. George Temple, and then served a mission to England. After his mission, he returned to Utah, married two women the same day, was arrested for bigamy, had a trial, was found not guilty, and then went on to have a family and career as a teacher/principle throughout the intermountain west.
