Charles Solomon (1889-1963), a socialist, was born on New York City's lower East side of immigrant Jewish parents. He practiced labor law, joined the Socialist Party in 1910, and was elected to the New York State Assembly on the Socialist Party line in 1919. Jacob Panken (1879-1968) was a socialist, labor leader and judge. Following early involvement in labor organizing, he was elected New York Municipal Court Judge on the Socialist ticket (1917).
