The New York Review existed in the years 1957 and 1958 at 279 Houston Street in Manhattan and was edited by Peter McCurtin and William Atkins. In the spring of 1957, McCurtin solicited material from top shelf writers of the time including: Aldous Huxley, Muriel Spark, C.S. Lewis, Norman Mailer, Margaret Mead, James A. Michener, J.D.
