A. Leo Levin was born in New York in 1919. He received his B.A. from Yeshiva University in 1939 where he would later serve as a visiting law professor and administrator. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School and received his J.D. in 1942. After graduation, Levin served four years in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant prior to being named a University Fellow at Columbia Law School.
