Andrew Jackson, 7th President of the United States. Born on March 15, 1767 in the Waxhaw Settlement in South Carolina; though just a boy, participated in the battle of Hanging Rock during the Revolution, captured by the British and imprisoned. The first church dedicated to St. Michael was erected on Santa Rosa Island by Tristan de Luna y Aveliana when a colony was established in 1559. Since that time, church and colony have lived under five flags.
