Materials documenting Shelton's work as Smith College professor of Exercise and Sports Studies, as consultant for various girl's and women's sports organizations, and as a presenter at national and international conferences and workshops concerning advocacy for women's sports. Documentation of Shelton's work with the International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG), the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW), and the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta is also included.

Christine M. Shelton earned her M.S. from James Madison University. She is professor of exercise and sport studies at Smith College, and teaches primarily in the graduate program. At the graduate level she teaches courses in philosophy and ethics, current issues, and sport pedagogy, and coordinates the coaching practicum.
