Patricia Parks was born February 15, 1901. After graduating from Smith College with her B.A. in 1922, she married Roger C. Butterfield. Their daughter, Patricia Butterfield, later attended Smith College as a member of the Class of 1948. Upon her husband's death in 1949, Butterfield took a position as the Head of Stafford Hall at Mount Holyoke College. Three years later she returned to Smith College as the head of Jordan House.
