Alice Hall Farnsworth was born on October 19, 1893, in Williamsburg, Massachusetts. She attended Tanton public schools, and graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1916. She received an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1917 and 1920 respectively. In 1920 she began teaching astronomy at Mount Holyoke College. In 1936 she became chair of the department, and she retired in 1957. Alice Hall Farnsworth died on October 1, 1960, in Newton, Massachusetts. From the guide to th...
