Scottish writer and historian Thomas Carlyle and his wife, Jane Welsh Carlyle. Consists of photographs by Thomas of his wife Jane (some with his handwritten coments) and of Thomas Carlyle. There are also photographs by John Patrick of Edinburgh of sites and residences associated with the Carlyles. There is one holograph letter (1870) by Thomas Carlyle.
