Margaret Ella Faulk, daughter of Dr. William Mark and Ella Margaret Leland Faulk, was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on 28 December 1907. She was educated at Sullins College (in Bristol, Tennessee) and graduated from the University of Alabama and Columbia University. She was the librarian at the University of Alabama when she died of cancer on 10 December 1940, just days short of her 33rd birthday.
