Rufus Brown Bullock was born in Bethlehem, Albany Co., N. Y. He supervised building of telegraph line between N.Y. and the South and in 1859 was employed by the Adams Express Company (later Southern Express Company), and moved to Augusta, Ga. During the Civil War, he remained in Georgia, becoming a telegraph expert for the Confederacy.
