Speaker of the North Carolina House of Commons; member North Carolina Senate; United States Congress member; appointed governor of the Tennessee Territory; and United States Senator from Tennessee. Letter of 1796 concerns Jefferson and Burr for President and Vice President and mentions the designation of Benjamin Hawkins as agent to Southern Nations of Indians. Letter of 1797 regards the "line between the Indians and the United States."

William Blount (March 26, 1749 – March 21, 1800) was an American Founding Father, statesman, and land speculator who signed the United States Constitution. He was a member of the North Carolina delegation at the Constitutional Convention of 1787 and led the efforts for North Carolina to ratify the Constitution in 1789 at the Fayetteville Convention.
