Dr. Jasper Adams served as president of the College of Charleston, S.C., president of Hobart College, and Chaplain, 1838-1840, at the U.S. Military Academy (West Point, N.Y.); ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1820; Adams was married, first, to Mercy Wheeler, and second, to Placidia Mayrant, with whom he was father of Francis Mayrant Adams (1821-1884).
