Diary and abstract of M. P. Grace, Claus Spreckles, and Mariposa logbooks 1881-1884

Richard J. Allen, Jr. kept this journal of a voyage on board the clipper ship M.P. Grace from New York to San Francisco, from June 22-October 26, 1881 (journal entries for September 21-October 25 are missing). The volume also includes an abstract of the ship's log, dated June 24-October 26, 1881, and a pen and ink sketch of the ship. Also included are an abstract of the log for the return journey from San Francisco to New York, December 12, 1881 through April 1, 1882, and an abstract of the voyage of a schooner, Claus Spreckles, from San Francisco to Kahului, Hawaii, dated May 23-June 9, 1884. In addition, the volume contains an abstract of a voyage of the steamer Mariposa (Oceanic S. S. Co.) from Honolulu to San Francisco, dated June 16-22, 1884
