Account of U.S. Marines' expedition to Panama 1885

Richard S. Collum, captain in the United States Marines Corps, wrote this account of the expedition to Panama in which two battalions of Marines and some sailors landed at Aspinwall (Colón) to subdue an insurgent uprising. His account includes a sketch of events leading to the revolt from March through May 1885. General order no. 9 of Admiral James Jouett is inserted. These events are now commonly referred to as the burning of Colón, or the Panama Incident
