Samuel Hill (1777-1825) of Machias, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts, was a ship captain. Letter 1817 Feb. 28 at Boston, Massachusetts, to Messrs. Bryant & Sturgis, merchants at Boston, 8 p., stating his reasons for discharging his first officer, John J. King from the ship Ophelia; and letter, 1823 Mar. 8 at Boston to John P. Cushing at Canton, China, 20 p., stating his side in a dispute with Col. Israel Thorndike, arising from the Packet voyage, 1817-1822.
