William Cowper (1731-1800) was an English poet and writer of hymns whose works, often celebrating the mundane or pastoral, are considered forerunners of Romantic poetry. The collection consists of letters from Cowper, one undated and to an illegible recipient declining an invitation, and one dated May 27, 1777, to lawyer Joseph Hill relating to financial matters
