Genealogical research material includes correspondence relating to genealogical and estate matters, news clippings, and other ephemera documenting John Atticus Robertson, and the Lawrence, Lefferts, Meserole, Greene, Marshall, Brinkerhoff, and Schenk families of Brooklyn and Dutchess County, New York. Of note is correspondence with the National Portrait Gallery regarding family portraits painted by Daniel Huntington, as well as an 1887 letter to Mary Robertson from Huntington with instructions on how to clean the portraits; and correspondence with various institutions relating to the provenance of an antique spoon belonging to the Schenk family
