Gertrude Lawrence, actress, was born Gertrud Alexandra Dagnar Lawrence Klasen in London, England on July 4, 1898. She was a musical star of stage and screen. She worked frequently with producer John Golden, and with actor and writer Noel Coward. Miss Lawrence's last stage appearance was with Yul Brynner in the musical, The King and I, in 1951.
