Hoppin family papers 1824-1895

Diaries and related material created by members of the Hoppin family of Providence, Rhode Island, including William Warner Hoppin (1842-1843; 1861); Carrington Hoppin (1838); and Frances A.F. Street Hoppin (1887-1889 and 1894-1895). William Warner Hoppin's 1842-1843 diary includes descriptions of the Dorr Rebellion, his visits to New Haven, lectures attended at Yale, and family matters; his 1861 diary describes his activities at the Peace Conference of 1861 (also known as the Conference Convention), and a discussion of a Border State convention. Also included are a commonplace book (1824) and a book of poetry (undated). Carrington Hoppin's 1838 trip to Europe. Frances Hoppin's journals detail a trip to Europe with visits to Italy, Egypt, Belgium, France, and Scandinavia
