Antony Tudor papers 1908-1987

Antony Tudor Marie Rambert Richard Pleasant , choreographer and teacher, was born in London and studied ballet with beginning in 1928, choreographing his first ballet for her Ballet Club in 1931. At the invitation of , he came to the United States in 1940 to work with Ballet Theatre. He worked with other companies internationally, but his base remained the United States. The papers in this collection contain material from 1908-1987 (bulk dates 1985-1987).

Hugh Laing was born on June 6, 1911 in Barbados, British West Indies as Hugh Morris Alleyne Skinner. Laing moved to London in 1931, and enrolled in Marie Rambert's Ballet Club (later Ballet Rambert) in 1933.
