Thomas Faed, Scottish painter. To Archibald Campbell, a lateral descendant of the poet Thomas Campbell : 15 autograph letters signed : 1892-1895 : (MISC 1666-1679) (MISC 1682) : many relating to Faed's amateur poetical efforts. (MISC 1682) is written on a printed sheet of Faed's ballad "Oh! Send my Daddie Hame," 1893.

The historian Archibald Campbell was born in 1846. He was a son of George Douglas Campbell (1823-1900), 8th Duke of Argyll. The young Campbell was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Eton and at Goettingen. Before entering the business world he had been a Captain in the 5th Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
