Rilke wrote to Werfel in 1913 after reading Werfel's first 2 books of poems, Der Weltfreund and Wir sind. They met for the first time in the same year. Ruth Siebe-Rilke was the daughter of Rilke and Clara Westhoff; here she signs her name Ruth Fritzsche-Rilke. Kathleen Mary Tillotson (KT), b. 3 April 1906, d. 3 June 2001, the daughter of journalists Eric and Catherine Constable, was brought up in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Her parents were both members of the Society of Friends (Quakers) and she attended Ackworth School, Pontefract, and The Mount, York. James Blair Leishman was born on 8 May 1902. He was educated at St John's College, Oxford. He was Assistant Lecturer, Lecture and Senior Lecture in English Literature at University College Southampton from 1928 to 1946 and lecturer in English Literature at Oxford University in 1946.
