Barbara Reise was born in Chicago in 1940. She attended Wellesley College from 1958-62 majoring in Art and Art History, where she was nominated 'Wellesley College Scholar' for a record four years running. Whilst at Wellesley, Reise studied painting and sculpture at the School of the Chicago Art Institute for one term in 1961.
