Sir Basil Henry Liddell Hart (1895-1970), writer on warfare, was the son of the Rev'd H Bramley Hart and Clare Liddell. He was educated at St Paul's School and Corpus Christi, Cambridge. He served in the First World War, was wounded, and invalided as a captain in 1927. He developed methods of drill, and wrote the official manual in 1920 for training infantry.
