Robert Andrew Moody was born in Bothwell, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, in c1864 . He first matriculated as an Arts student at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, in 1879, graduating MA in 1883, during which time he attended the Moral Philosophy class of Edward Caird.
