The Bradford Friends Literary Association was formed in 1856 and its membership overlapped with the Young Men's Mutual Improvement Society and later, the Essay and Discussion Society. Its object was to circulate books and periodicals amongst members, and arrange discussions and debate, not just on literary subjects.
