There is strong evidence for a Quarterly Meeting being held in Yorkshire in December 1665; however the first full series of Quarterly Meetings took place in March, June, September and December 1666. This pattern continued unbroken to October 1966. After 1966 it was re-named Yorkshire General Meeting. A group of First Publishers of Truth, William Dewsbury, Richard Farnsworth, Robert Fell and John Snowden, visited the market town of High Bentham in 1652 or 1653, and a number of local people were convinced. The response was not altogether favourable - Robert Fell died shortly after being attacked outside the local church.
