Helen Bowen Pease (ne Wedgwood 1895), a pacifist and daughter of Josiah Wedgwood, was Secretary of the No-Conscription Fellowship at Stoke and a regular visitor to conscientious objectors held at Lichfield Barracks. Josiah Clement Wedgwood (1872-1943), Member of Parliament for Newcastle-under-Lyme, 1906-1942, and Lieutenant Commander, RNVR (Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve) and RNAS (Royal Naval Air Service), served on the Western Front, the Dardenelles and East Africa, 1914-1916, before serving on the Mesopotamia Commission in 1916, as Assistant Director, Trench Warfare, in 1917 and in Siberia in 1918.
