William Tipping, 1598-1649, was the younger son of Sir George Tipping of Wheatfield and Draycott, Oxfordshire. He was educated at Queen's College, Oxford (B.A., 1617) and then, in 1618, became a student at Lincoln's Inn, before giving up the law and returning to Oxfordshire. He joined the Parliamentary cause and took the covenant.
