Robert Threshie Reid was born 3 April 1846 and was a native of Dumfriesshire. He was educated at Cheltenham College and he studied at Balliol College, Oxford. He became a Barrister in 1871 and a QC in 1882. Reid was also an M.P., for Hereford in 1880 and for Dumfries 1886-1905. He became Solicitor-General and then Attorney-General in 1894. Between 1905 and 1912 he was Lord Chancellor. He received a Baronetcy in 1906, and was knighted in 1894. He was also decorated for his services in connection ...
