Egon Sharpe Pearson (1895-1980), statistician, was born at Hampstead, London, on 11 August 1895, son of the biometrician Karl Pearson. He attended Dragon School, Oxford, and Winchester College before entering Trinity College, Cambridge (B.A., 1920; M.A., 1924), where he studied mathematics.
