Thomas D, Duncan, son of John A. and Katherine Norman Duncan, was born on 16 August 1866. He was reared on the family farm and received his early education in the common schools and two years at Ft. Deposit, Alabama, He then engaged in teaching with a first grade teacher's license He later became an assistant in the schools of Ft. Deposit.
