Photographs and negatives of New Zealand aviation, taken and collected by Ross MacPherson. Comprises photographs of : Military and civilian aircraft, including helicopters, taken between 1950s-1990s. The opening of the Aviation Pioneers Pavillions, MOTAT, Auckland Negatives labelled as "[Gelebic?] and [Pritch?] [Alan Pritchard ?] on their way around NZ doing their top dressing 'pitch' mid 1949" Comprises four images of Tiger Moth planes, and four others of unidentified men. Accompanying information - A partially unreadable, hand written label that accompanied the negatives relating to topdressing, is filed at PAColl-9818.

Jean Batten was born on 15 September 1909 in Rotorua, New Zealand. She and her mother moved from New Zealand to Britain in 1930 where Batten immediately pursued her ambition of learning to fly. In 1934, she flew solo from England to Australia in 14 days, 22½ hours, shattering Amy Johnson’s record by four days and becoming a world celebrity.
