This series includes letters received and copies of letters sent, narrative and statistical reports, circulars, photographs of buildings and students, newspaper clippings, expense vouchers, applications for employment, copies of applications for surplus funds forms for education expenses, and miscellaneous records relating to the activities of Day School Inspector W. Q. Farris and his successors, education field agents Sam Blythe and Norman Hinds. The correspondence includes letters to and from the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, the Supervisor of Indian Education of Oklahoma, officials of the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Washington responsible for the supervision of education, officials of the state of Oklahoma, government farmers, field clerks, social workers, and officials of public and private schools. The correspondence relates to enrollment of Osage children, tuition expenses, and course offerings. There are also some copies of death notices and change of name notices.

In 1851 the Osage Subagency and the Neosho Subagency were combined to form the Neosho Agency which was responsible for the Osage, Quapaw, Seneca, and Mixed Band of Seneca and Shawnee. This agency was placed under the Southern Superintendency where it remained until transferred to the Western Superintendency in 1867.
