This series consists of correspondence with the Office of Indian Affairs, Indian agents, and special agents. The records include letters received and copies of letters sent covering all aspects of agency administration. The records consist chiefly of letters, but also include reports, budgets, circulars, forms, advertisements, instructions, contracts, manuals, programs, invoices, packing lists, and government bulletins. The correspondents include the Office of Indian Affairs; Indian agents; Department of Interior officials; private individuals; religious groups; suppliers; and Indian warehouses in Omaha, New York, and Chicago. Topics covered in the records include purchasing; policies; finance; Indian schools; individual Indians; fairs and other events; and coordination of activities involving students, other Indian agencies, churches, and other outside organizations.
