General Records of the Tribal Operations Branch, 1912–1970

This series includes circulars, correspondence, minutes and press releases relating to various tribes under the jurisdiction of the Taholah Agency. This includes timber allotment records, fishing industry matters, records relating to the Wheeler-Howard Act and Bill, and the Indian Reorganization Act for local tribes plus other agency records. Some early records were originally maintained by the Cushman Indian School. In 1920 Cushman Indian School was abolished, and responsibility for the records were transferred to the Taholah Agency. Another set of early records were maintained by the Neah Bay Agency. In 1933 the Neah Bay Agency was abolished and responsibility for the records were transferred to the Taholah Agency. In 1952 the Taholah Agency was abolished and responsibility was transferred to the Western Washington Agency.
